Hey! How is your week going? I enjoyed a relaxing day off yesterday, and am really looking forward to heading to the US next week to celebrate my niece’s 1st birthday! Wednesday can’t come soon enough 🙂
As usual, our day off started around 6:15am, with Maya batting at us with her paws, insisting on a morning run. We ran for about 40 minutes towards Santa Ana, and then came back to stretch (me) and practice yoga (him).
I had to go to the eye doctor next, and then we went to the market! When we have time, we split our shopping between the market and an actual grocery store since fruits/veggies at the market are a lot cheaper. We love going to the market; there’s so much to see and you can pretty much find anything you need there!
When I was taking Spanish classes, I asked my teacher to take me to the market to show me where to find the best deals and the best quality. She took me to a huge room in the center, where you can find tons of fruits, vegetables, all different kinds of mushrooms, dry goods, nuts, and spices!
Half a pound of macadamia nuts costs only $3 from my favorite spice lady.
I didn’t this time, but usually I’ll grab some flowers to put around the house. There’s a whole row of flower stands to choose from, and they’ll cut the stems and wrap/arrange the bouquet for you if you ask.
We stopped at home to unload the groceries. All of this was only $18!
We went to the other grocery store, and then went to grab ceviche for lunch (holy onions)!
Later, I baked my favorite Chewy Oatmeal Cookies, but made them into bars this time ( I always add a mashed banana and white chocolate chips to the batter).
I also roasted some sweet potato, potato, and butternut squash to eat with eggs for breakfast this week
We watched City 40 on Netflix…a super interesting documentary on a closed city in Russia where they make nuclear bombs.
Then we made Asian Lettuce Wraps for dinner!
