If you’re like me, you don’t like to start your day with a greasy breakfast (especially when traveling). I’ve found myself in airports a lot lately, and while some offer amazing healthy food options, most are seriously lacking. Obviously it would be best to pack your own breakfast, but I’m pretty sure I would forget it anyways since my last couple of flights have had 4am wakeup calls where I can barely open my eyes, let alone assemble a healthy breakfast. This is where Starbucks comes in and saves the day 🙂
Early morning lines at airport restaurants can be crazy, so I’d rather wait in one line rather than several. I order coffee (usually a Misto with almond milk), and then always get the “Perfect Oatmeal” with a banana. The oatmeal comes with little packets of brown sugar, nuts, and dried fruit.
Since it’s only 150 calories, I doctor it up a bit to make it super filling (and delicious).
1. Go over to their condiment station where the milk, sugar, and spices are
2. Mash up the banana and add it to the oatmeal, and add cinnamon and a little bit of milk
3. Throw out the brown sugar since it’s sweet enough, and add the nuts and some of the dried fruit.
Voila! A healthy breakfast that is easily transportable and filling, so you won’t find yourself grabbing that $8 bag of Chex mix before you board your flight.
Have you ever tried the oatmeal at Starbucks? What is your favorite airport breakfast?
