Thanks for all the nice messages and feedback on my last post; It’s nice to know that I have such a wonderful support system 🙂
We both had the day off yesterday, so we spent it together walking around, discovering fun spots, and eating delicious food. Between Maya’s 1st haircut, shopping around for Christmas gifts, and dinner in Guatemala City, we were busy !
When you have a puppy, even your day off requires at 6am wakeup call 🙂 After taking her out for a walk, we started our day with breakfast at Saberico. I ordered a smoothie with Pineapple, Ginger, and Mint, which was super refreshing and the best one I’ve had here.
We both ordered the Desayuno Motuleño,which was like huevos rancheros with beans, an amazing hot sauce, and yogurt (!)
After breakfast, we dropped off Maya to get her first haircut! 2 hours later, a brand new puppy emerged 🙂
While Maya was at the salon, we finally stopped into Casa de Artes, which I’ve walked by a million times. They have the most incredible Guatemalan textiles and artifacts that are hundreds of years old (and really, really, expensive). My favorites are always the Huipils, which are perfect as a wall hanging or to make into pillows. Guatemalan women are so incredibly talented!
A mid-morning coffee fix at one of our favorite cafe’s (espresso for him, frozen dirty chai for me)
Lunch was at Frida’s, for their Nachos….always so good.
I usually get mango or watermelon from the fruit carts, but this time we stopped for fresh squeezed orange juice ($2)
We went to some markets to shop for Christmas gifts, and then saw our favorite ice cream spot was open (Coconut with Chocolate is always my first choice), so we obviously had to stop.
After this, we drove to Guatemala City to have dinner with Christopher’s family and to switch out cars since ours was in the shop. Everyone was saying there were supposed to be protests blocking the entrances to the city and Antigua, but we made it both ways in about 40 minutes! We both have a really busy weekend at our hotels, with weddings and tourist season in full swing.
Have a great Thursday and happy (almost) weekend!
